Method

  1. Wear the kitchen and put the extractor to the maximum. Heat the empty toaster over medium heat between 2 and 3 minutes.

    2 min

  2. It has 150 g of green coffee and starts to turn the handle around, or to move the ceramic toaster in circles if it is of that type.

The constant movement is what makes the tweets go together.

  3. Dry, from minute 0 to 4: the grain becomes pale yellow and smells like grass.

    4 min

  4. Mailard, from minute 4 to 9: the grain goes to cinnamon and light brown, and the smell of toast appears. If it goes too fast, put the fire down.

    5 min

  5. First crack, about the minute 9-10: crackers like popcorn. It continues to rotate between 1: 30 and 2: 00 more and to remove from the fire at the 11-12 minute.

    2 min

  6. Then turn the grains into a colator and pass them from one colator to another, in front of a window or fan, until they are cold in less than 4 minutes.

  7. Separate the shell by shaking the straps in the open air and empty the one left inside the toaster.

  8. Store the coffee in a hermetic jar or a bag with valve. Let it rest 3 days for filter (3 to 7) and 7 to 14 days for espresso.

    3 days

Newly roasted, coffee is not yet at its best: rest gives it sweetness and balance.

Tips and warnings

  • Safety: the toaster, the handle and the handle are very hot; wear glove. Never leave him in the fire unguarded and have a fire extinguisher by hand.
  • There's gonna be smoke and a shell.
  • He hopes to lose 15 to 18% weight.
  • These toasters cost €20-60 (guidance).
  • No stove toaster: a large bottom pan, stirring non-stop, or the oven with a perforated tray.
