Swan-neck kettle
A kettle with a long and fine beak to pour slowly and accurately. Almost essential for manual drip.
- Indicative price
- €25–200
- Capacity
- 0,6–1 l
A swan-neck kettle has a long, fine and curved beak. Thanks to him you pour a controlled water thread right where you want, without suddenly removing the coffee bed. In the manual drip, with a V60 or a Chemex, it makes a difference.
The electrics with adjustable temperature allow you to choose the exact degree: higher for the light and lower for the dark. Many keep the water warm while you prepare.
- In favour: precise and constant discharge.
- If you regulate the temperature, save your thermometer.
- Against: It takes longer to fill and serve water for other uses.
- Against: good electric are expensive.
They cost €25-200. Fogon are the cheapest; variable-temperature electric, the most practical. See that the handle is well balanced and the jet is fine.
Cheaper alternative: a normal kettle, pouring water on the back of a spoon to stop the jet.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
