The Melitta cone is a plastic or porcelain filter holder shaped like a wedge and one or few holes in the background. Use the most common paper filters in sizes 1x2 and 1x4. As the water comes out slowly, it has some immersion and it's hard for the coffee to go loose.
It works like any drip: about 60 g of average ground coffee per litre of water at 92-96 ° C, the rinsed filter before and calm spills. For a cup, 15 g of coffee and 250 g of water.
- Please: very cheap and is located anywhere.
- In favour: economic filters.
- Please forgive the irregular spills.
- Against: less control than a V60 or a Kalita.
- Against: models of fine plastic lose heat.
It costs €5-15. Choose the size according to the cup or jar you use: 1x2 for one or two cups, 1x4 for more. The porcelain keeps the heat better if you pre-heat it with hot water.
It's already the cheap alternative to almost all manual drips. If you don't have any, a fabric filter on a pitcher takes you out of trouble.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
