Percolator
The camping coffee maker that makes the water boiling over and over again through the coffee. Strong and rustic, but easily passed.

- €25–60

The percolator has a central tube and a basket with the coffee on top. When it gets warm, the water goes up the tube, falls on the coffee and returns to the tank, over and over again. That bottle is seen, in many models, by the glass knob of the lid.
The problem is that the coffee already made goes through the ground coffee again at boiling temperature, so it's easy to get bitter. Use thick coffee, about 55-60 g per litre, and keep the bottle 5 to 8 minutes on medium-low heat. More than 10 minutes on heavy fire give a burned coffee.
- In favour: robust, without paper filters and for many cups.
- In favor: works in the stove, in the campsite or plug in.
- Against: it is passed from extraction very easily.
- Against: strong, but unnuanced coffee.
The fire or electric ones cost €25-60. Look for stainless steel and a view on the lid to control the bottle. The electric ones with the timer avoid passing.
Cheapest alternative: cowboy coffee in a bowl. For many cups with better taste, a drip coffee maker.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
