Milk jar
The steel pitcher with peak to vaporize and texturize the milk. It helps you get microfoam and draw in the cup.
- Indicative price
- €10–30
- Capacity
- 350–600 ml
The milk jar is made of stainless steel, with beak and handle. It is filled with cold milk and placed under the steam spear of the espresso machine. Its shape helps the milk turn into a whirlpool and the air is integrated into tiny bubbles: the microfoam.
Fill it up right below where the peak starts. At first, leave the tip of the spear near the surface to enter air; then, Hungarian it a little to turn the milk. Heat milk at 55-65 ° C: hotter loses sweetness.
- In favour: essential for a good cappuccino or a flat white.
- In favor: the sharp peak allows drawing.
- Against: you need a steam machine.
- Against: each size serves a specific amount of milk.
It costs €10-30. The 350 ml is for one drink; the 600 ml is for two. Choose thick steel and a well defined peak if you want to make drawings.
Cheaper alternative: if you don't have a steam machine, a milk skimmer or a well-closed jar give you a simple foam.
