Glass jar
A glass jar with a lid serves the cold brew, to shake drinks and to save coffee. The cheapest accessory.
- Indicative price
- €2–10
- Capacity
- 0,5–1 l
A glass jar with a watertight lid is the home coffee joker. With it you make cold brew by immersion, shake a shakerate or a frappé, foam cold milk and keep the coffee in grain.
For the cold brew: mix very thick ground coffee with cold water, remove, cap and leave in the refrigerator 12-24 hours. Then hang it with a fine colator and then with a paper filter.
- In favour: almost free and reusable.
- Please: easy to wash and don't get any smells.
- Against: the clear glass lets the light pass; keep it in the dark.
- Against: fragile.
It costs €2-10. Choose one with a wide mouth with a threaded cap or a hermetic clasp of 0.5-1 l. If you use it to keep coffee, keep it inside a closet.
Cheapest alternative: an empty and well-washed jelly jar serves the same.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
