Hot air palomiter
A hot-air pallet is 75-100 g in a few minutes and fairly uniform. A classic from home-made.
- Indicative price
- €25–40
- Capacity
- 75–100 g
The hot air palometers blow very hot air from below and make the grains spin, like a small, fluid bed toaster. With 75-100 g of green coffee, the nut lasts 4-8 minutes and comes out quite uniform.
Not all of them serve: you need one with the air exits on the side of the camera, not in the bottom, for the grains to turn. Try the green grain before you turn it on to toast: if you turn alone, okay. Start with about 90 g and adjust.
- In favor: cheap, fast and quite uniform.
- You can hear the cracks.
- Against: very little amount per batch.
- Against: it is not designed for this and can be overheated.
Safety: use it in the open air or by an open window, because it exits shell and smoke. Don't ever leave her alone, let her cool in between and have a fire extinguisher nearby.
It costs €25-40. Look for one with side exits and metal camera. Cheapest alternative: a pan.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
