No Espresso coffee maker? This works too
- Portable espresso€130–350Hand and compact equipment, type Picopresso or Flair, that reach the pressure of the espresso without electricity. To travel or to begin.
- Italian coffee maker (moka)€20–60The life-long stove coffee maker: the steam pushes the water through the coffee. Intense, with body and very cheap.
- AeroPress€35–55A plastic cylinder with plunger: immersion and a soft pressure. Versatile, resistant and almost unbreakable. Ideal for travel.
Method
Prepare a simple espresso of about 30 ml (recipe "Espresso," with 9 g of coffee) directly in a small glass of 90-120 ml.
Warm 30 ml of milk in the pitcher with the vaporizer, in very little air, up to 55-65 ° C.
Without vaporizer, heat the milk in a bowl and wash it with the foamer for a few seconds.
Pour the milk over the coffee by holding the foam with a spoon. Look for half and half, or less milk.
Taste if you like and serve it right away, still very hot.
Tips and warnings
In the United States there is "Gibraltar," a cut-off drink that takes the name of a glass of about 135 ml in which it was served.
- No machine: a short Italian coffee maker or AeroPress works well, although it is not an espresso.
- Cut with cold milk: add unheated milk if you prefer to warm it.
One last thing
A cut cuts the coffee, not the conversation. Are we still chatting with a ko‑fi?
