The AeroPress is a cylinder with a rubber plunger and a stopper with a small paper filter. The coffee is soaked as in a French press and then pushed through the filter with the hand. The result combines paper cleaning with a good body.
A simple recipe: 11 g medium-fine ground coffee and 200 g freshly boiled water at about 96 ° C. Place the plunger an inch inside to make empty, wait 2 minutes, move with a soft turn, wait 30 seconds and press slowly for another 30. It is also used inverted, with the plunger down; in that case, turn around very carefully not to burn you.
- In favor: very versatile; it supports hundreds of recipes.
- Please: light, resistant and easy to clean.
- In favor: perfect for travel and office.
- Against: prepare one or two cups at most.
- Against: it doesn't make espresso, even if it looks like it.
There is the Original, the Go (with travel cup), the Clear (transparent) and the XL (for two). They cost €35-55. Paper filters last long; metal filters let more body pass.
Cheapest alternative: a Clever Dripper (€20-30) or a small French press give a similar immersion.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
