Method
Have a cold brew concentrate ready (cold brew recipe) or prepare a double espresso (espresso recipe) and cool it.
Fill a high glass with ice and add the lemon juice and the syrup.
Pour 60-120 ml of cold coffee and stretch with cold water if you want it softer.
Tear the lemon skin strip over the glass to release its oils, throw it inside and remove.
Tips and warnings
It is said that the French soldiers were drinking it in the fort of Mazagran in Algeria around 1840, extending with cold water a coffee they had concentrated. That's why it's often called "the first coffee with ice."
- In Portugal it is prepared with lemon and sugar juice or skin; some versions carry a rum chorrite, and then it is already a drink with alcohol.
One last thing
They say it's the first ice coffee ever. This could be your first ko‑fi: refreshing, promised.
