Geisha, or Gesha, takes its name from the Gori Gesha forest in Ethiopia. From there, their seeds passed through Kenya and Tanzania, arrived in 1953 at the CATIE research centre of Costa Rica (code T2722) and in the 1960s to Panama.
For years it passed quite unnoticed: the tree has long entrances and produces little. Everything changed in 2004, when Hacienda La Esmeralda presented it at the Best of Panama competition and the lot reached a record price. Since then, it has been grown in many countries.
In the cup is floral as few: jasmine, bergamot, peach and tea, with light body.
- Origin: Ethiopia.
- Fame: Panama, since 2004.
- Low productivity.
It's expensive and delicate. Prepare it with low mineralization water, clear blood and a clean method: V60, Chemex or Kalita. And don't put milk on it: it would cover just what makes it special.
This coffee bar runs on coffee… literally. And the odd ko‑fi.
