Panama produces little coffee, but its name is heavy. Everything changed in 2004, when Hacienda La Esmeralda presented its Geisha in the Best of Panama competition and reached a record price. Since then the variety is synonymous with luxury coffee.
The cafes are between 1,200 and more than 2,000 m. The harvest goes from December to April. In addition to the classic washing, here are many natural and anaerobic fermentations.
- The most famous area.
- Volcano and Renaissance: other areas of height.
A good Geisha smells like jasmine and tastes like bergamot, peach, tropical fruit and tea. It is delicate: move it carefully, use low mineralization water and prepare it in V60, Chemex, or Kalita with clear tweets.
It's expensive, so take it easy. If you can, compare it with a different variety of Panama coffee: so you will understand what the Geisha brings to the cup.
